The only thing I would like to report at the moment is that on August
26 we had a new bird for our yard list in Potomac, MD. A Worm-eating
Warbler. We are unusually confident of the ID. The bird hit our
window and was stunned. But it had a happy ending. After a few minutes
resting in a shoebox, it flew off vigorously. Since our neighborhood
is heavily wooded and the immediate area is quite flat, we were not
expecting to add this bird to our list.

On other thing: In June we had Janet Millenson report on our behalf a
White-Throated Sparrow singing in our yard. It remained in the area
from at least June 17 to July 17. We heard it pretty much daily and
saw it on numerous occasions. I was surprised that no one seemed
interested. When people were sighting Whitethoats in late May and
early June, the experts were speculating that the birds must be sick
or injured. There was nothing sick or injured about our bird. If a
female had shown up they may well have bred.
