Hola,

I birded Point Lookout State Park in St. Mary's County Sunday from about
seven-thirty until around ten AM. I flushed an adult Lark Sparrow while
returning to my car which was parked at the point. The bird was in the narrow
margin of sand between the road and the seawall, just opposite of the pond that is
hidden by phragmites. As I drove past the spot a few minutes later, the
bird was still foraging in the sandy soil. There were a lot of people fishing
here, but none were on this section of the seawall. There was also a
considerable wait (about a half hour) to enter the park at seven-thirty, and the
queue of cars was at least triple that as I left at ten.

Lots of Redstarts around, all immature or female. A brief-but-great look at
a very yellow Yellow-bellied Flycatcher. Also a lot of big butterflies,
mostly Monarchs and Cloudless Sulfurs, and a few Red Admirals. I'm sure there
were scores of small butterflies as well, but I wasn't paying close attention.
I was at Point Lookout in the afternoon on Saturday as well, for about an
hour, and the most notable difference was the lack of gulls and terns around
the point today. Saturday was loaded, today, not so much. Fourteen Brown
Pelicans were there today, all in formation flying up the bay.

eBird list follows.

Cheers,

Todd
