Speaking of crests, this morning I had a Wood Thrush in the oak-leaf hydrangea
outside our dining room window. It was quite agitated, flicking wings and tail
and making that whip-whip noise as it stared into the window. It also
had a small crest,
with all the feathers on top of its head unfurled. I didn't know they
could do that.
Was this bird seeing its reflection and getting territorial, the way Cardinals
so often do? I've never seen a Wood Thrush behave that way.
