Hi Everyone,

Jim Green and I spent Tuesday and Wednesday birding the Eastern Shore. Tuesday was a great day, with migrants seen the entire day. Wednesday was slower, but there were still some nice birds to be seen. Thanks to Jim Brighton and Matt Hafner for giving directions and tips. Highlights of the trip.

Tuesday - 9/4

QA County -Terrapin Park - Yellow-bellied Flycatcher, Swainson's Thrush & BTG.

Caroline County - Penny Rd, Anthony Mill Rd area - Northern Waterthrush, Prairie Warbler, Redstarts, Pine, B & W, Ovenbird and RB Nuthatches.
Idyllwild WMA - Blue-winged Warbler, Yellow-throated Warbler, Magnolia, Pine and Redstarts.

Northeast Dorchester - Yellow-throated Warbler, B & W, Redstarts, Ovenbird, Pine, BTB (Jim only), BTG (Jim only), Magnolia (Jim only), Worm-eating (Dave only), both Tanagers, RB Nuthatches. On a recently harvested field on Allen road we found a Buff-breasted Sandpiper within 20 feet of the road. At the pig farm on Indiantown road, there were approximately fifty shorebirds with the best being a Baird's Sandpiper.

Elliot Island Road - Sedge Wren. On the route to Blackwater NWR, we had a group of dowitchers and after much discussion think there were both Short & Long-billed among the group.

Wednesday

Taylor's Island - Least Flycatcher, Veery, Chestnut-sided Warbler, Redstarts, Baltimore Orioles, Red-headed Woodpecker and RB Nuthatches. In a sorghum field, there was a 1000+ flock of Bobolinks.

QA County - Horsehead - RB Nuthatches, Summer Tanager, Redstarts & Ovenbird.
