Dear All

Just a quick note to report another weird sighting in DC - to my surprise an
American Bittern flew over my head as I walked up Connecticut Avenue from
Farragut North tube stop on my way to work this morning. It headed straight
up the avenue at about 5th floor level and was lost from sight over Dupont
Circle. It was craning its neck in a most peculair fashion, doubtless looking in
vein for a reed bed.

Other things of note. I happened upon a nice Lincoln's Sparrow in the National
Zoo on Wednesday morning, and I dipped the Olive-sided Fly in the Rock Creek
Maintenance Yard by about 5 minutes yesterday. Good find Dan!

Best

Gary
