After 2 days of good Broad-winged Hawk flights over Havre de Grace, we had high hopes as
we arrived on Monday the 17th. We set up at the Concord Point Lighthouse, across from
Perry Point, where we saw the previous day's kettles forming. We were disappointed seeing
no Broad-wings at all! Perhaps the winds coming from the east had a lot to do with the
flightless morning. By noon we had seen only 3 BWs, single birds very high. The local Bald
Eagles were still abundant, but migrants were scarce. It will be interesting to visit the
HAWKCOUNT.ORG website to see what other hawkwatches reported today.
On Tuesday the 18th we will probably set up at the Lockhouse Museum and hope for a
better day!!
