I went down to Beverly Beach around 1:30 PM today, no Whimbrel so I called
Bud Taylor who was kind enough to escort me over to Mayo Beach where the
Whimbrel had been seen earlier this morning. Probably due to the large
number of people on the beach, the Whimbrel was not to be seen. I then went
over to Beverly-Triton State Park where Bud originally found the Whimbrel
and again there were several people walking the breach so no Whimbrel.
Bud said that he did not see any white on the rump or underwings so this
bird is probably the N. p. hudsonicus.

Subject: [MDOSPREY] Whimbrel in Mayo
A lone whimbrel has been frequenting Beverly Beach and Mayo near Edgewater
in Anne Arundel Co. It was present Wed. Sept 12 along the beach at Beverly
until scared off by a jogger. A whimbrel, I suppose the same one, was at
Mayo Beach today early (Sept. 14). It seems to finding a lot to eat along
the water's edge is fairly tame (for a whimbrel).
