Hi Folks!
I visited a location I had never been to before...Maxwell Hall Park. This is
a Charles County Park located near Benedict along the Patuxent River. The
park is designed primarily for horseback riding,, but hiking is allowed. To
reach the park, head north on Maxwell Lane [about 1 mile west of the Benedict
Bridge] and take Maxwell to its end. Hikers should park outside the gate. At
the far end of the first major equestrian trailer parking area there is a kiosk
with a trail map....there are miles of trails. Large open fields are mostly
in soybean. The hedgerows between them are mainly mature trees. There are
extensive areas of tidal marsh. I took the Blue Trail, but did my own extension
by bushwacking along the shoreline to Teague Point. The Black-bellied Plover
[a County Bird for me!] was on the point.
