When I first got to Wilde Lake to do a little
birding I did not think that I would see anything
great since the only birds I saw at all were Cardinals
and Grey Catbirds. But as I started walking through
the woods along the stream I started seeing several
American Robins, a Downy Woodpecker, Blue Jays and
lots of Northern Flickers splashing around. Seeing a
Downy woodpecker doing that was a surprise. As I
walked further along I saw a Black-throated Blue
Warbler jumping around on a fallen tree. When I
started to leave I saw a Red-breasted Nuthatch. By the
lake I saw a Great Blue and I began to think that was
probably the only heron around until I saw an immature
night heron, probably a Black-crowned one. I also saw
1 Blackpoll Warbler, and two birds that I'll have to
look up to see what they were. One of them, a
Yellow-throated Warbler? That's what it looked like, a
warbler with a yellow throat, and not a Common
Yellowthroat. I really don't know what that other one
was.
