Distracted by all the bird activity when I went out to fetch the mail, I
ended up wandering the yard for 20 minutes like that kid in "Family Circus."
The White-throated Sparrow was calling again, and a Red-breasted Nuthatch
too. A Yellow-bellied Sapsucker clung to a tree about 15 feet away from a
(resident) Pileated Woodpecker. Hmmm, I really should go outside more often.

Presumably the birds figured the heck with waiting for a cold front, it's
early October already and time to get a move on.
