At Pennyfield this morning, I saw a woodpecker fly into a tree and land not too far from a Flicker. It was noticeably smaller than the Flicker (about the size of a Red-bellied), but it had a dark head and back with a large white patch with black (or brown) barring. I'm wondering if this could have been an immature Red-headed Woodpecker. (Not too unusual, I guess, since I know they've been seen at Hughes Hollow.)
