My husband and I birded Bombay Hook today and it was quite birdy. The area
near the HQ building had an immature BALTIMORE ORIOLE, several EASTERN
PHOEBES, a PALM WARBLER, lots of YELLOW RUMPED WARBLERS, RUBY
CROWNED KINGLETS and SONG and SWAMP SPARROWS. Raymond Pool was
packed with shorebirds the majority being both YELLOWLEGS, DOWITCHERS
and DUNLINS. The tree line adjacent to the Bear Swamp tower was also very
birdy-we had a CAPE MAY WARBLER, AMERICAN REDSTART, tons of YELLOW
RUMPS, WHITE CROWNED SPARROWS, several EASTERN TOWHEES, YELLOW
BELLIED SAPSUCKER and another PALM WARBLER (western race). AMERICAN
AVOCETS seemed to be everywhere! All in all it was a good day at the Hook!
