I made a short trip to Southwest Area Park this morning hoping for a few
sparrows, and was pleasantly surprised by two SORA in the first pond to the
left as you drive toward the boat launch. One flushed right and into the
phragmites, the second called immediately after. John Hubbell, just moments
before, pulled over and greeted me- and missed them by seconds! I could
still see the dust settling on the road behind his car after I heard
them...sorry man!
It was very windy out there...I found most of the other birds after
bushwhacking through the forest. Not much luck with sparrows, though.
Good Birding!
