Hopeful that the rain last night might have grounded
some interesting waterbirds (ha!), this morning I
tried to get to Hains Point, but the gates were
locked.

I then zipped over to Anacostia River Park and to
Kenilworth Park and found the usual waterbirds: Canada
Geese and gulls. Some herons flew up the river. Two
Greater Yellowlegs and five or six Green-winged Teal
were at the inlet between Kenilworth Park and
Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens. The Swamp Sparrow will
have to qualify as a waterbird today. Two silent
Horned Larks and two calling Pine Siskins flew
overhead. No flycatchers of any sort.

Next, Virginia called me. But I can't talk about
that, except to say that I climbed a hill and saw some
hawks.
