While I was watching the parade of Bald Eagles go by today after the
storm passed through,
I saw a Red-headed Woodpecker on the snag behind the picnic tables.
It was an immature,
and most cooperative as it first showed me its back and then started
pecking acrobatically,
giving me excellent views of bird body parts I really don't need to see anyway.
I counted nine immature Bald Eagles today--none morphed into a
Golden, though I was hoping--and
four adults. Meta Little and a group of Delaware birders got to see
much of the Eagle show as well.
