I too have had a surge in goldfinches the past week at our feeders.
We have had 10-15 a day for several hours at a time. Yesterday they
went through over a foot of seed in the feeder. I think we had our first
siskins this week, but by the time I got my binocs to confirm they had
left. No Purple Finch, a few house finches and lots of chickadees,
titmouse and nuthatches.

Haven't seen a Siskin or PF yet (I keep trying) but noticed a big jump
in
Goldfinchs yesterday also. First thing I saw upon opening the blinds was
a
bewildered looking GF standing on the ice in the birdbath. I have a
half-dozen GFs as steady customers but had 4 times that number
yesterday. So
far today it looks like the normal crowd.
On the other hand, House Finches have been few - no more than 3 or 4 at
a
time, most times none at all. They used to be borderline nuisance
numbers
but I don't remember how long ago that was.
