Last  December, while waiting on the cloverleaf exit from Route 1 to  
the Mt. Vernon Highway on our way to National Airport, I witnessed a  
Cooper's dive bomb into a flock of pigeons grazing on one of the  
grassy highway islands.  The hawk neatly picked one off; flew up with  
its meal and into a nearby tree.  Very cool!
