Are Redpolls flocking birds or mostly solitary?

Hazards of birding & working at the same time:

almost poked my eye out switching from computer glasses to regular when the
RP showed up

while on conference call - realized there had been a long silence and
someone was waiting for me to answer a question. used the old "we must have
a bad connection" dodge.
