Yesterday at 2:00 pm, while doing the CBC in Salisbury my dad and I spotted
a Cave Swallow fly around the southern lake at Canal Woods condominiums in
Salisbury.
I noticed the rounded tail and the buff throat. Unlike the cliff swallow it
didn't have any trace of brown around the cheek or throat. That was a life
bird for the both of us.
We had a great bird count with 60 species including the Cave Swallow. While
writing this I took a break to feed the birds outside. During feeding I had
a pair of Red-breasted Nuthatches land right next to me waiting for the
feeders to be filed. I took a hand full of bird food and reached out with hand
opened, and to my surprise the female flew down to my hand and perched to take a
sunflower out of my hand.
