A short work day allowed me to hit Blue Mash in Montgomery County late this
afternoon to try for the Short-eared Owl seen by Dave Powell and Bill Hubick
two weekends ago. Around 4:30, a Northern Harrier and then a Short-eared
Owl made an appearance over the top tier of the landfill. I was viewing from
the same location described in Bill's posting on Sunday 12/16.
Other birds seen on the walk out to the fence line included 1 American Tree
Sparrow, 1 Purple Finch, 2 Field Sparrows, 1 Hairy Woodpecker, several
Northern Flickers and a small flock of Cedar Waxwings.
