I had a couple of additional sightings as well from Wednesday. On Oland road
in Frederick County, I was able to find a Lapland Longspur among the several
hundred Horned Larks. Also, while looking downstream at the Terminus in
Cumberland, five Northern Pintails landed in the Potomac.

We tried for the Short-eared Owls at North Branch at dusk and were
unsuccessful.

Happy New Year,

Hi All,

Birded Garrett County with Bill Hubick on 12/26/07, we started at Finzel
where we had a Red Crosbill flyover. On a back road to Piney Reservoir we
had a flyover Norhtern Goshawk. At Deep Creek Lake there where still four
Surf Scoters hanging out behind the Discovery Center. Today, the 27th Dave
Powell and Bill and I ran through a lot of the spots from the day before.
Bill and I had another Red Crosbill flyover south of the Discovery Center,
the scoters where still there. Last stop was Rocky Gap State Park, Dave
headed on, Bill and I worked the south end of the lake and found another Red
Crosbill! Still had 18 species of waterfowl up in Garrett too.

Good birding,

Hans
