I was able to relocate the Cromwell Valley Northern Shrike this morning. I
viewed the bird for about 5 minutes through my scope at about 8:40 AM. The
bird perched atop the 2nd utility pole in the field immediately to the north of
the entrance road into the farm/park (the first entrance from the Beltway).
This is the same pole where the bird was seen by Joel Martin and others on
Wednesday morning. I initially spotted the shrike in the tangles at the base of
the pole, then the bird flew up and perched on the wire atop the pole where I
got great views through my scope for several minutes. When I was trying to
help someone else get on the bird, it apparently flew (I didn't see which
direction), and I was unable to relocate the shrike over the next 15 minutes or
so.
