	All:

Had an Eastern Phoebe at Schoolhouse Pond, Upper Marlboro, PG County, this morning, along with the usual stuff, including scads of geese and gulls. Phoebes seem to have become virtually year-round residents there, which, according to Sibley's, seems a bit out of usual winter range.

Finishing my commute into DC, saw a Cooper's Hawk fly across Independence Avenue toward the House office buildings. This may be the same accipiter that I have seen in recent weeks scouring various parts of Capitol Hill, no doubt for pigeons.

Good birding and Happy New Year!
