This afternoon I was at Blue Mash from around 4:30 or
so, joining Jim Green and two other birders.  Right
around 5 pm, the Short-eared Owl appeared over the top
of the old landfill.  It came somewhat closer, but not
too close, by the time I left 5 minutes later.  Not
the best view, but a view, in the overcast afternoon.

I watched the Short-eared Owl for about 2-3 minutes
this afternoon about 4:10 pm. Enough time to watch
both thru binos and at 20X thru scope.  It flew back
and forth almost at top of landfill directly across
and up the hill from the pond. A lifer for me!
