I did a bit of birding in the fog this morning, from 8-10:30. I had planned to look for field birds but visibility was so poor so I did Hughes Hollow, Sycamore Landing Rd and Hughes Rd instead.

  Highlights:
Red-headed Woodpecker - several, very cooperative and noisy at Hughes
Purple Finch - maybe 60(!) in total including a very tame flock of 30 on Sycamore Landing Rd, near the junction with River Rd. Only a few purple birds.
Chipping Sparrow - 1, Sycamore Landing Rd
Fox Sparrow - 1 on path at Hughes Hollow
White-crowned Sparrow - 1 (only), in hedges in first part of Hughes Rd above River Rd.

In several places I came across big mixed berry-eating flocks - Cedar Waxwing, Blue Jay, American Robin, Starling and Purple and House Finches.

  Regards
