I participated in the Sugarloaf CBC and my sector included the C&O Canal from Point-of-Rocks to Noland's Ferry. It was a terrific day birding that inluded 6 species of Woodpeckers but there was the largest flock of Robins I have ever seen. It was really difficult to estimate the size but I'm guessing there were 1000 birds all told (I also learned it's best not to park your car under a tree when a flock of this size is in the area!). The flock was divided into 3 clusters, each cluster was approximately 1/4 of a mile in length.

Thanks to Janet Millenson for giving me the opportunity to help out with the count.

Happy New Year!
