Bird spies find unusual species
Special breed found on Christmas count only seen three times before on the
shore

OCEAN CITY -- Counters spotted a bird Friday only seen three times during
the Christmas Count since its beginning over 50 years ago.

"The Dovekie nest in Greenland, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland," said Jay
Sheppard, head of the Ocean City count. "Massachusetts and Long Island are
usually about as far south as they normally occur."
