Hi all hope everyone had a great hoilday and CBC's as well .
As a side note the Caroline County Bird Club would like to proudly anounce that for the First time in the History of the Denton Christmas Bird count held since the 1950s we tallied over 100 Species in fact we had 101 species . While we hoped it was possible someday to reach that goal everything had to fall into place . In the past we have had count totals up to the high 90s and many in the 80s and 90s The county is mostly land Farm ponds, Lake at Tuckahoe state park , Upper reaches of the Choptank River and two sewage treatment plants are the only water in the circle NO BAY FRONT . So some Ducks species can be hard to come by at times . Everything fell into place this year Winter Finches and a nice variety of ducks pushing us over the edge and a first time Golden Eagle on the count . Our thanks to those of you who helped out . Last I heard Our count Compiler Steve Westre was still dancing on top of his dinning room table .
