A quick drive down Wildlife Drive at Blackwater found very large flights of both
Canada Goose and Snow Goose being produced at least partly by harassing
eagles. The Snow Geese were mixed white and dark phase blue geese.
However, from a photograph of a particular flight -about 100 birds in the frame
I count only about 18 white -that is blue geese were about 80% of the birds
flying overhead. Does anyone know what is typical of the white-dark
distribution of our wintering birds?

In addition on the water there were considerable but not huge numbers of
Tundra Swans. Also, on the north side of the drive as one approaches route
335, there was a pretty collection of Northern Pintail.
