There was a decent amount of avian activity this afternoon (1:30PM - 4:30PM)
around Allegany County after coming up short on some of the nice birds seen
in Garrett county this morning. At Rocky Gap State Park, I found a mixed
flock near the aviary. Among Dark-eyed Juncos, White-throated & Song
Sparrows, etc., I found one female PINE SISKIN with a group of four American
Goldfinches. There was not much feed at the feeders located just behind the
aviary, but they seemed to prefer the enormous brush pile which now sits
just to the right of the aviary. From Rocky Gap, I went to check out the
North Branch of the C&O Canal. Among ~300 Canada Geese was (most likely) the
same GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE originally found by J.B. Churchill, but I
was pleasantly surprised to see it still around.
