June, the ravens-at-the-dump situation was real, as far as I know. I read 
about it in the CBC issue of "American Birds" quite a few years ago, but 
don't recall whether it took place in Alaska or Canada (hence the generic 
reference to "far north").

| I don't know what you consider "far north", but the following 41 species
| were seen in the northeast corner of Minnesota on the Grand Marais CBC
| last month. Thankfully, it's more than just ravens around a dumpster.
