Seven suitably dressed birders braved the chilly winds on Jan 20 to look
for some of the wintering species. (Remember - there is no such thing as
bad weather. There is such a thing as wrong clothes.) We found Horned
Larks in small numbers at several sites, but the more fascinating species
were not around, yet in comparison with the western shore walk that yielded
only one bird, we will have to feel that we really did fine. Danny Poet led
the group, and kept us on the move enough so that no one froze in place. We
checked the fields near Ridgely that are often good for winter birds and
followed that with a brisk walk along a wooded (somewhat sheltered) path in
Tuckahoe Park.
