On Saturday morning, I noticed a Tufted Titmouse sitting on a branch above
the feeder. It was holding a black oil seed with its feet and trying to
peck into it. However, it was having a problem holding the seed and
maintaining his balance on the branch. When he tried to peck, he would
'lose his balance' and struggle to hold on to the branch and the seed.
Eventually, the seed fell and he just sat there for 2 or 3 minutes. He then
flew to the feeder and tried to pick up another seed, but he had a hard time
doing that.

He appeared to be slightly tipsy ... maybe he ate a fermented berry or two?
Of course, he could have a neurological problem.

In an earlier posting, I had mentioned seeing a garter snake. Well, the
snake made an appearance in the same spot yesterday afternoon. He was
sunning himself, trying to absorb some rays. Not sure how it survived the
much colder weather last week.
