A hardy group of 14 birders braved a warm,  50 degree, calm and partly sunny
February day to bird Dorchester County.  The group saw 60 species prior to a
mid-day lunch at Kay's (Dorchester County Airport) Cafe.  Highlights of the
morning were 2 greater white-fronted geese (life birds for many in the
group) along Egypt Road, a Peregrine falcon flyover at Great Marsh Park in
Cambridge and 10 white pelicans at Blackwater Refuge.

After lunch, 10 birders continued on to the south to add 14 more species
including rough-legged hawk (distant view) and 2 short-eared owls that
provided lengthy and close-up views.  The day was culminated by a group of
wild turkeys and 2 woodcock seen on the later afternoon drive back.  A
complete list of birds is below::

(profile and flight pattern only) (pm); Red-tailed Hawk; Rough-legged Hawk -
1 along Cedar Creek Road (pm); American Kestrel; Peregrine Falcon - flyoever
seen from Great Marsh Park in Cambridge; Killdeer; Greater Yellowlegs (pm)
-12; Long-billed Dowitcher (pm) -8 (found by Wayne Bell on Shorter's Wharf
Road); Dunlin (seen by Wayne Bell); American Woodcock -  (pm) 2; Ring-billed

Short-eared Owl -  (pm) 2 along Cedar Creek Road; Red-bellied Woodpecker
