Subject: Poplar Island Sightings from Jan 30, 2008

            This report is submitted on behalf of Jan Reese of Talbot
County, who continues to periodically survey the flora and fauna of the Paul
Sarbanes Ecosystem Restoration Project at Poplar Island. 
            These sightings include the birds seen on Jan 30, 2008.  Some of
the birds were seen from the boat during the trip from Tilghman Island and
back. 
	
	Note the presence of  Peregrine Falcon, Western and Purple
Sandpipers,  Short-eared Owl and Snow Bunting.  Also the numbers for
Ring-billed Gulls and Herring Gulls.  The Herring Gull count was the highest
seen for the 6 years of observations at the site.
	
	Weather: Overcast early, clear in pm;  Temp range 40-45 degrees  F
