Fellow birders,
Martha Krieger, I and three other persons saw the Painted Bunting in the holly bushes behind the green feeder for about five minutes starting at 2:35 pm today at the previously-noted location in Arnold, MD. The red on the chin, throat, underparts and eye ring rivaled the brilliant red of the hollie berries as the bird faced directly toward us from a perch in the bush. Another treat was a nonbreeding adult Chipping Sparrow which appeared at the green feeder a short time before this sighting as well as late in the morning when we first tried for the bunting.
