MDOsprey:

Jane and I arrived at the end of Governor's Run at
about 8 am. Jim Green, from Gaithersburg, had been
there since 7. Viewing conditions were pretty much
ideal with wind having switched around from the south,
as reported by Suter and Gaskill, to the west. Waves
were less than a foot and near shore were virtual
ripples.

There were dozens of Horned Grebes north of the pier
at the beach with a smattering of Buffleheads, Common
Loons, Long-tailed Ducks and a single Surf Scoter.
Occasionally, a Horned Grebe would be seen stretching
its neck and would get the pulse racing but there was
nothing that looked remotely like an Aechmophorus
grebe.

Interestingly, the homeowners on the south side of the
road at the beach reported that there had been an odd
dark-mantled gull there a week prior that had been
there for a week. It had pink legs. Of course it
wasn't there this morning. Sigh.
