I spent most of the yesterday arriving at Battle Creek Cypress Swamp early
around 8:30. Right away we saw the Female Evening Grosbeak which was a
lifer for me. After a walk on the boardwalk at the Cypress Swamp we went to
Flag Pond. I was amazed at how many Cedar Waxwings were there, there had
to be hundreds of them. It was the largest flock of birds I have ever seen in
my life. The berries were plentiful. Some eagles were also seen flying around
at Flag Pond Next was a stop at the Calvert Cliff State park. We took the Red
trail down to the beach. Along the way we ran into a couple who told us there
were Coopers Hawks mating off the trail. I only managed to catch one the
other my husband had told me he saw flying away. The only other birds we
saw there were some Mallard ducks and some Bufleheads near the beach.
