I had the honor and pleasure of releasing a RED SHOULDERED HAWK this
afternoon here in Annapolis at Greenbury Point.

The hawk was originally found stuck in the thick mud of Back Creek (a
creek on the Southern end of Annapolis). The neighbors got in touch
with me and I came over, borrowed a nearby kayak and pushed my way
through the thickest, most gravitational muck one could ever imagine.
It was going great until the hawk flopped away from me. I had to move
the boat sideways, which brought a few gallons of the mud up through
the center of the boat... and all over me.

Long story short, the bird was cared for, cleaned up and examined to
make certain all was good. And it was. So this afternoon, Linda from
the National Zoo travelled up here to Annapolis, handed me the raptor
and I let it fly. My wife Emery and son Declan enjoyed the show, as
did Pam Wood from the Capital Newspaper and a few of the neighbors who
first found the bird stuck in the muck.

The full story is on my blog: http://wahzoh.blogspot.com/

Finally, the RED NECKED GREBE was swimming in Wilde Lake around 3 this
afternoon.

It was a very busy day indeed. I trust yours was great.

All the best,

Dan Haas
