Looked for the Redpolls at Fort Smallwood from about 3 to 4:30 PM without success. There were two flocks of Juncos and one of Song Sparrows near the old fort, but no Redpolls. Talked to Matt Grey, Park Ranger, who said that early morning or late in the afternoon seem to be the best time to look for them and the best place to look is in the flocks of Juncos, American Goldfinches or Song Sparrows near the old fort.

He reminded me that Fort Smallwood is closed on Wednesdays. The park hours on other days are from 7 AM to dusk and there is a $5 entry fee.
