A brisk, 2 hour walk along the upper lake revealed normal levels, no ice,
and near-impassable stretches of the foot trails. Apparently, no weather is
so daunting as to stay the dedicated owners and pooches from their daily
rounds, leaving some patches suitable only for real mudders. As expected,
bird activity was minimal:

Mallard~52, mostly at upper end
Black Duck--1
Green-winged Teal--1
Hooded Merganser--10 (6m, 4f)
Black Vulture--7 circling ov'hd at one pt.
RT Hawk--1, seen twice, probably same
RB Gull--2, circling ov'hd
RB W'pkr--2, heard only
C C'dee--2
T Tit--3
WB Nut'h--1, heard only
C Wren--2, seen & heard briefly
Mock'bird--1
Cedar Waxwing~30, flock passing by ov'hd
N Cardinal~7, seen & heard
WT Sparrow--2 seen briefly.

Total: 16 spp.
