Bob, and all,
I think they may have all landed in my yard about mid-afternoon too!

Yesterday I threw a scoopful of mixed seed (black oil, cracked corn and
white millet) into the garden behind a hanging feeder, and when I looked out
around 2PM there was a huge flock of mostly red-wings (mixed with some cowbirds,
starlings etc.) I hurriedly tried to set up my scope/camera for a photo but
the birds spooked and only once came back briefly. This was the largest flock
I've had in the yard, certainly over 100 birds. It was a seathing mass of
moving black backs on the ground, really neat to see. I was hoping for something
unusual but they flew before I could scan the entire flock.
