This morning I went down to Ocean City for the first (and likely only) time this winter. The inlet parking lot was devoid of birds when I got there at 8AM, and I quickly saw why - a Peregrine was having a Ring-billed Gull for breakfast:

I didn't find anything much of note in the inlet (e.g. no eider or alcids) but there was quite a spectacular Gannet show, with a lot of them feeding south of the south jetty, and some birds flying over the inlet parking lot to reach there. A few were bobbing around in the surf at the mouth of the inlet with both loon species. Strings of scoters passed north, mostly Surf with some White-winged and a couple of Black.

Two Laughing Gulls flying north just offshore were the first for me for this year.

The Eared Grebe found last week showed well, still off of 32nd St, seen from 1/8 mile past where the street opens up. As before it has a number of Horned Grebe for company.

  Good birding
