I have posted some photos of the Red-necked Grebe that has been at Wilde
Lake (Howard County) at
http://junetvee.smugmug.com/gallery/4474008_4Bo74#263127873
In several (but not all) of the photos something is attached to or
protruding from the end of the bird's bill. It's not a fish that the
bird just caught. I'm reasonably sure it's not a trick of the light
because I took about 50 photos at different angles over two days, and
the protrusion appears in most of the photos.
Do grebes stick out their tongues more often than not? Any other guesses
what it might be?
