The Willet could be of the western race, Catoptrophorus semipalmatus
inornatus. Mark Hoffman had a few a couple weeks ago on Assateague I
think. The western race is larger and paler then the eastern race. They
migrate though MD every year, and some may over winter here, especially when
the winter has been mild as this winter.

Amanda,

I was perusing your impressive list imaging myself birding right alongside
your
group. The list of rarities is quite exciting; and the WILLET jumped off
the
page with equal enthusiam. Not to shabby a late winter find. Congrats on a
3
falcon day.
