In a slight contrast, our Bel Air feeder has gone up in Red-breasted Nuthatch
number. Our fall count max'd out at 5, with a single bird visiting the feeder
throughout the winter (I actually think this little guy lived at the feeder and
visited the forest periodically). Since this past weekend, our Red-breasted
number has gone back up to four.
Also more present recently has been a single Fox Sparrow and a rather bold
Brown Thrasher. I say that because it just struts right out to ground feed,
has been there most of the day for the past week, and is the last bird to flush
in the event of an excitement. Reminds me of 9th grade when I stared out of
a window during English class watching a Brown Thrasher dart between two
bushes for an hour. I don't think any of the other students noticed it. |
