The yard birds were in full song this Sat morning. The very vocal pre-dawn
(6:45 a.m.) chorus included N. Cardinals, Dark-eyed Juncos and White-
throated Sparrows. Within the hour, woodpeckers, White-breasted
Nuthatches, chickadees, titmice, towhees, etc all joined in. A single Red-
breasted Nuthatch is still around, and that Brown Thrasher is still feeding
regularly. At 8:30 a.m., an Eastern Phoebe joined the crowd with its volume
(and song repetition) cranked up to 10. It really sounded like Spring stepping
outside this morning.
