on Feb. 17, while counting for the GBBC, I saw  a
peregrine swooping up and down the street.  Shocked as
I didn't  expect it in my neighborhood.

Hi Helen,
 I was just searching some references and found this tidbit, in Pete  Dunne's 
Essential Field Guide Companion, under Peregrine Falcon, Behavior---  "During 
migration, young birds are playful, engaging in aerial dogfights with  other 
species of raptor. Adults are more reserved and are usually aggressive  only 
toward Golden Eagle."
