Howard County Waterfowl

The Howard County Bird Club mounted its annual spring waterfowl search
today, to generally good weather.  Seven hearty souls showed up.  I won't
bother will every single chickadee.  Just some highlights;

Elkhorn 08:00-10:00

Ring-necked Duck - 5
Hooded Merganser - 8
Pied-billed Grebe - 6
Great Blue Heron - 1
American Coot - 1
possible Wilson's Snipe - 2
Eastern Phoebe - 3

In the Forebay Pond area there were two Canada GooseX???? hybrids.

Wilde Lake 10:10-10:30

American Black Duck - 1
Ring-necked Duck - 2
Hooded Merganser - 4
Bald Eagle - 1
Herring Gull - 1
Common Grackle - 1,000+

There was also a possible MallardXAmerican Black Duck hybrid keeping company
with the American Black Duck.

Centennial 10:35-11:50

Tundra Swans - ?  Heard only, we could not actually see any, apparently as
they flew over.
Bufflehead - 8
American Coot - 2

Another CanadaX???? hybrid was present here.

Greenbridge, Triadelphia Reservoir 12:10-13:00

Lesser Scaup - 6
Horned Grebe - 3
Pine Warbler - 1 (on MontCo side)

Kittamaqundi  13:20-13:45

Herring Gull - 1

An American Kestrel was seen on Ten Oaks Rd. between Brighton Dam Rd. and
Rt. 108.
