I spent a pleasant late morning around the reservoir. The only waterfowl I saw
besides a few Canada Geese were a small flock of Common Mergansers near
the dam. At the Beckleysville Road Bridge an immature Bald Eagle flew by and
an Eastern Phoebe was calling. Along Beckleysville Road about halfway
between the bridge and Gunpowder Road in a mature pine stand were a Red-
breasted Nuthatch, Ruby-crowned Kinglet, Hermit thrush, Yellow-rumped and
Pine Warblers. I was pleasantly surprised to hear the Hermit Thrush singing.
Also heard a Fox Sparrow along Gunpowder Road and saw juncos at several
locations. I did not find any redpolls along Clipper Mill Road but did see a
Golden-crowned Kinglet and another phoebe there. There were a few Red-
tails, Red-shoulders and one American Kestrel along Falls Road.
